# Move items to a new location

### Move items with drag and drop

Click and hold an item, drag it, and let go where it should be. To move several items at once, select them first.

- **Between two items:** a blue line shows where the item will land.
- **Onto an item:** the item is highlighted, and what you drag becomes its last sub-item.

#### Move Items into Sidebar Items

Drag an item onto another item in the sidebar to move it inside that target item.

**Hint:** Dropping an item **between** sidebar items stars it instead of moving it.

### Move items with keyboard shortcuts

Select the items you want to move, then hold `Ctrl/Cmd` and press an arrow key. All selected items move together.

- `Ctrl/Cmd + ↑` / `Ctrl/Cmd + ↓` — Move up or down
- `Ctrl/Cmd + ←` — Move out: the item moves to just below its parent
- `Ctrl/Cmd + →` — Move in: the item becomes the last sub-item of the item above
- `Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + ↑` / `Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + ↓` — Move to the top or bottom of the list

**Hint:** To move items further, press `M` to open **Move to…** and pick where they go.

## 📱 Mobile

### Move items with drag and drop

Quickly move an item within a list by pressing and holding your finger on it, then dragging it to the new position and releasing it to drop into place.

### Move items with **Move To...** menu action

For longer moves:

1. Tap the **menu** (bottom right) on the item you want to move.
2. Select **Move to…** from the menu.
3. Navigate to the target location.
4. In the bar at the bottom, tap **Above**, **Below** or **Into** to place the item next to or inside the item you're on, or **Search…** to find the destination by name. Tap **Cancel** to stop moving.
