# Mention people in your notes

You can mention people in any item by typing `@` followed by a name (e.g., `@John`). Existing names are suggested as you type. You can also create new mentions.

Mentions are searchable using the `mention:` search operator (e.g., `mention:John`).

Note: `@` is also used for adding dates (see the Dates section).
