Add items to your outline

New item below selection: Press Ctrl/Cmd + Enter to insert a new item directly below the currently selected item.

New item above selection: Press Option (⌥) + Enter to insert a new item directly above the selected item.

New child item: Press Tab (⇥) to create a new child item under the selected item.

Create a new item below selection: Tap the leftmost + icon in the footer-menu to insert a new item after the currently selected item.

Create a new child item: Tap the second icon (the one with a small line and a + symbol) to create a child item under the current item.

Tap the top + icon to add a new item at the start of the column.

Tap the bottom + icon to add a new item at the end of the column.
