Add items to your outline

🖥️ Desktop

Select an item and press one of these shortcuts. The new item opens so you can type; press Enter when you're done.

Ctrl/Cmd + Enter — New item below the selected item

Alt/Opt + Enter — New item above the selected item

Tab (⇥) — New item inside the selected item

Shift + Tab — New item that the selected items move into

Alt/Opt + Enter adds “Renew passport” above “Book flights”, Ctrl/Cmd + Enter adds “Ask for days off” below it, and Tab adds “Email Maria” inside.

Hint: The shortcuts also work while you're editing an item.

📱 Mobile

Create a new item below selection: Tap the leftmost + icon in the footer-menu to insert a new item after the currently selected item.

Create a new child item: Tap the second icon (the one with a small line and a + symbol) to create a child item under the current item.

You can also create new items using the + icons in each column:

Tap the top + icon to add a new item at the start of the column.

Tap the bottom + icon to add a new item at the end of the column.
